A favorite means a shopper saved your listing to come back to. Favorites show interest, and Etsy Stats lets you track them over time — but a favorite isn't a sale. The goal is more favorites from real buyers, and more of those favorites turning into orders.
What favorites tell you
Favorites are a useful signal of how appealing a listing is. Etsy doesn't publish how favorites affect search ranking, so treat them as a measure of interest, not as a ranking lever.
5 ways to get more favorites
1. Make the first photo worth saving
Your first photo is what shoppers see in search. Etsy asks for a clear, well-lit, single image of the finished product there — the same photo that makes someone tap the heart.
2. Share your listings outside Etsy
Pinterest and other social platforms let people save and come back to products. Share each listing with more than one image or angle.
3. Add a natural call to action
A short line at the end of your description, such as inviting shoppers to add the item to their favorites, reminds them they can save it.
4. Group items into sections and collections
Shop sections and seasonal collections make it easier to browse related items and save more than one.
5. Show how the product is made
Behind-the-scenes photos or a short video help shoppers connect with the product. Etsy allows up to 2 videos per listing.
Quality beats quantity
100 favorites from real potential buyers are worth more than 1,000 random ones. Stay away from favorite-swap groups: they add favorites from people who won't buy, which makes your stats harder to read.
Turning favorites into sales
- If a listing gets favorites but no sales, compare its price and shipping with similar items
- Answer common questions in the photos and description
- Check that the listing has a return policy and clear processing times
The Favorites metric in your dashboard tracks daily changes — match it against what you shared on which day.
