How the title generator works
1. Describe the item or add a photo
Say what the product is in plain words, or upload a product photo so we can name the item. Add details you're sure about — material, color, size, personalization or format — and any keywords you already use. Attributes only come from what you type, never from the photo.
2. Get three options
Listimize writes three titles that lead with what the item is. Drafts that break the rules (too long, repeated words, price or shipping info, details you didn't give) are rejected and rewritten.
3. Check and copy
Each option shows its length, word count and the Listimize title check. Copy the one that fits, or generate a different set.
What Etsy says about listing titles
Etsy's own guidance for sellers (Etsy Help, How to Create a Listing) covers a few clear rules:
Up to 140 characters, ideally under 15 words
Etsy allows 140 characters but suggests using fewer than 15 words. Listimize also recommends staying around 76 characters so the whole title stays readable — that's our suggestion, not an Etsy rule.
Say what the item is first
State clearly what the item is and its key details. Buyers scanning search results should understand the product from the first few words.
Skip repetition and subjective words
Etsy recommends avoiding repeated words and subjective words such as "perfect". There's no need to add price or shipping information to a title.
Occasions and recipients only when essential
Only include holidays, occasions or recipient types when they're essential to what the item is — for example, a Halloween costume.
Titles, tags and keywords work together
Keep the title readable
A title doesn't need every search phrase. Put the clearest description in the title and cover other ways buyers search in your 13 tags.
Find the phrases buyers use
Keyword research shows which phrases people search for on Etsy. Use them only when they truly describe your item — popular but inaccurate words mislead buyers.

Frequently asked questions
How long should an Etsy title be?
Etsy allows up to 140 characters and suggests using fewer than 15 words. Listimize recommends keeping titles around 76 characters so they stay easy to read; the generator keeps every option within both limits.
Should I repeat keywords in my Etsy title?
No. Etsy's guidance is to avoid repetition. The generator rejects titles that use the same word twice and covers other search phrases in a different way, through your tags.
Will a new title improve my ranking or sales?
No title can guarantee that. A clear title helps buyers understand your item, but search placement and sales also depend on photos, price, reviews, tags and competition.
Does the generator add details I didn't give?
It isn't supposed to. Titles that mention a material, size, color, quantity or other attribute that isn't in your description, details or keywords are rejected. Always check the result against your product before publishing.
Can I generate titles from a photo?
Yes. Upload a product photo (up to 2 photo generations a day) and we'll identify what the item is. Colors, materials, sizes and other attributes are only added when you type them, so the title doesn't guess details from the picture.
Is the Etsy title generator free?
Yes. You can generate up to 8 sets of titles a day without an account. Listimize doesn't save your description, photo or the generated titles; they are sent to our AI provider only to write the titles.
